Public Hearing: Charles County 2022-2031 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan
The Charles County Commissioners will hold a Virtual Public Hearing on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 6:00 p.m., to consider the new ten-year Charles County Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan.
The Solid Waste Management Plan addresses the management of solid waste including generation, waste reduction, collection, transportation, processing, and disposal. The plan is rewritten every ten years to update baseline data and reflect new goals and initiatives. The next plan covers 2022-2031. The Charles County Department of Public Works, Environmental Resources Division (DPW) developed the plan with the assistance of the Department of Planning and Growth Management, and solid waste management consulting firm Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc (GBB).
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0555. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
The public meeting is scheduled to be conducted virtually. To register to speak during the Public Hearing, please call 301-885-2779 on February 9, 2022 between 8a.m. and 4p.m. At that time, registered speakers will be provided information on how to join the virtual public hearing. Speakers are asked to be available between 6:00 pm– 9:00pm. on February 9, 2022. If a registered speaker is unavailable, the County has the right to move onto the next caller. Comments may also be submitted online beginning January 21, 2022 at 8:00 am through February 9, 2022, at 5:00 pm by using the e-comment feature at is https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/cccswmp-proposed-updates-comments/ or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than February 9, 2022.
