Private Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Waldorf Central (WC) Zone
The Charles County Commissioners will hold a Virtual Public Hearing on September 29, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., to consider a Zoning Text Amendment in accordance with Chapter 297-447 of the Charles County Zoning Ordinance.
Zoning Text Amendment #21-161 (Bill #2021-06), submitted by Shante Lane Tamerat, proposes to modify the County Zoning Ordinance in order to permit private elementary and secondary schools, identified as land use # 4.01.110, in the Waldorf Central (WC) zoning district.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the September 29, 2021, Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on September 29, 2021, to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on September 29, 2021, to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted September 10, 2021, starting at 8:00 a.m. through September 29, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at:

In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than September 29, 2021.
