The Charles County Redistricting Board
Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will conduct a Virtual Public Hearing on June 22, 2021, at 6 p.m. to consider amending the Charles County Code concerning the Charles County Redistricting Board.
The proposed legislation will amend Charles County Code to provide certain selection criteria for members of the Charles County Redistricting Board by amending CHAPTER 27 – COMMISSIONERS, COUNTY Section 1 – Number of Commissioners designated; term; Redistricting Board, Code of Charles County.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Citizens can watch via CCGTV on cable access channels, Comcast: 95 and Verizon FIOS: 10, or view online at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/our-county/ccgtv-live-stream. If you are unable to watch, use the call-in number to listen to the Public Hearing at 301-645-0500. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the June 22, 2021, Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on June 22, 2021, to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on June 22, 2021, to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted June 11, 2021 starting at 8:00 a.m. through June 22, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at: https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/bill-2021-03-charles-county-redistricting-board/ or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than June 22, 2021.
