PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Hearing: Nanjemoy Rural Legacy Area
Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will conduct a Public Hearing on December 15, 2020 at 6 p.m. to consider a proposed new Rural Legacy Area in the Nanjemoy region of the County. If approved, landowners within the proposed Rural Legacy Area would be eligible for Rural Legacy Program grant funds to preserve farm and forest properties through conservation easements.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the December 15, 2020 Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on December 15, 2020 to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on December 15, 2020 to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted November 20, 2020 starting at 8:00 a.m. through December 15, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/nanjemoy-rural-legacy-area-public-comments or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than December 15, 2020.
