PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Hearing: School Allocation Policy Changes
Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will conduct a Public Hearing on October 20, 2020 at 6 p.m. to consider proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 297 Section 258 of the Code of Charles County, Maryland and the Adequate Public Facilities Manual. The purpose of the amendments is to improve the school allocation process and provide incentives and additional flexibility to accommodate priority projects, including mixed-used development and affordable workforce housing.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the October 20, 2020 Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on October 20, 2020 to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on October 20, 2020 to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted October 20, 2020 starting at 8:00 a.m. through October 30, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at (https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/school-allocation-policy-changes-public-comments) or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than October 30, 2020.
