NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the County Commissioners of Charles County, Maryland will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. to consider a proposed update to County’s investment policy.
Chapter 48-2 (E) of the Charles County Code requires the Treasurer to invest approved funds that are not required to be used for immediate disbursement or expenditures for county purposes in short term securities with a maturity duration not to exceed one (1) year or 365 days. The proposed update increases the maturity duration of the investment to two (2) years. This public hearing will provide the public the opportunity to present testimony on the proposed legislative change. The proposed legislation will be posted to the County’s BoardDocs website at http://www.boarddocs.com/md/chrlsco/Board.nsf/Public
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0570. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.

To speak during the September 29, 2020 Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on September 29, 2020 to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on September 29, to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted beginning September 11, 2020 starting at 8:00 a.m. through September 29, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/cc-investment-policy or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than September 29, 2020.
