PUBLIC NOTICE
ZTA #20-156, Agricultural-Related Uses
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of Charles County, Maryland will conduct a Public Hearing on June 8, 2020 at 6 p.m. to consider proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 297 of the Code of Charles County, Maryland.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or wanting more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692 for further information. The hearing is open to the public, and public testimony is encouraged.
In March 2019, the Board of County Commissioners for Charles County, Maryland created the Rural Planning & Zoning Task Force by adoption of Resolution 2019-03, whose charge included providing recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners, that if implemented, would serve to strengthen the rural heritage of the County. ZTA 20-156 includes new and/or revised definitions of various agricultural-based uses that allow for the expansion in the scope of permissible activities. Additionally, ZTA 20-156 removes the need to obtain a public event permit for special events that are conducted in conjunction with agritourism activities, within certain parameters. Lastly, revisions to the Home Occupation Permit program are included that expand the scope of permissible activities and alter the manner in which the program is implemented.

A call-in option is available to speak during the meeting. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes.
