BENEFIT ASSESSMENTS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS
Notice is hereby given that the County Commissioners of Charles County, Maryland will conduct a Public Hearing on June 2, 2020 at 6 p.m. to consider legislation concerning benefit assessments for infrastructure improvements, numbered Bill 2020-01.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or wanting more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692 for further information. The hearing is open to the public, and public testimony is encouraged.
The proposed legislation will amend Chapter 97-2 through 97-5 of the Code of Charles County to expand the manner of payment of assessments for infrastructure improvements by allowing any unpaid benefit assessment to be transferrable to subsequent property owners.

A call-in option is available to speak during the meeting. Please call 301-885-2779 to register to speak during the public hearing. Registration to speak will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. on June 2, 2020. If you are registered to speak, you will be called to speak during the meeting between 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on June 2, 2020. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If you are not available to speak when you are called, we have the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted May 19, 2020 starting at 8:00 a.m. through June 2, 2020, 4:30 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/bill-2020-01 or calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. Written comments may also be mailed to: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Written comments must be received no later than June 2, 2020.
