COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the County Commissioners of Charles County, Maryland will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in a hybrid format, both virtually and in person in the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland to consider the transfer of the following land located in Charles County and Prince George’s County to the Official Piscataway Conoy Tribe of Maryland, Inc., a Maryland nonprofit corporation.

Description: Tract A-102-1 in Prince George’s County and Charles County, being part of the former Washington-Baltimore Defense Area Nike Battery W-44, previously owned by the United States of America and deeded to Charles County at Book 13588, Page 306 in Charles County.

The property has an appraised fair market value of $2,075,000.00. In accordance with Article 12
§ 406 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the County Commissioners shall solicit and accept comments concerning the transfer and consider issues related to the transfer that include:
1)compatibility of the proposed use with the neighborhood;
2)financial issues, including the ability of the proposed transferee to construct, renovate, maintain and operate a facility on the property;
3)historical significance of the property; and
4)unique characteristics of any structure on the property.
In-person: Speaker sign-up will begin 30 minutes (1/2 hour) prior to the hearing at the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata) and will end at the commencement of the public hearing.
Virtually: Call (240) 776-6709, between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, to register to speak. Once registered, individuals will receive a virtual link to testify between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. after in-person speakers testify. If you are not available to speak when your name is called, we have the right to move on to the next caller. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes.
Written or voicemail comments may be submitted in lieu of oral testimony, or to expand upon oral testimony, and will be accepted Friday, February 28, 2025, starting at 8 a.m. through Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 5 p.m. for:
