PUBLIC NOTICE
THE BOARD OF APPEALS FOR CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND has been petitioned by Melwood Horticultural Training Center, Inc. (Melwood Horticultural Center and Camp), requesting Special Exception use approval from the Board of Appeals for a nursery school and day-care center with more than 30 children, as provided in Article XIII, §297-212, Use #5.02.500 and Article XXV, §297-415 of the Charles County Zoning Ordinance. More specifically, the Applicant proposes to introduce an “After School Care/Youth Development Program” within existing facilities on the subject property. The project site, located at 9035 Ironsides Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland and is designated as Tax Map 52, Grid 20, Parcel 20. Parcel 20 is comprised of approximately 107.82 acres subject to this special exception request. Parcel 20 is located entirely within the Agricultural Conservation (AC) Zone.
The Board of Appeals is hereby giving notice that a Public Hearing will be held on this matter Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. The Public Hearing will be held as a “Hybrid meeting,” with limited in-person attendance. For those attending in person, the Public Hearing will be held in the Government Building Conference Room (“Blue Room”). Those wishing to join virtually may via video conference. Those wanting more information may call 301-645-0692. The Public Hearing is open to the public, and public testimony is encouraged.
