Providing residents with access to materials for sandbags is one tool that Charles County Government offers to support emergency preparedness.  Effective September 2025, Charles County will distribute sandbags when there is a named hurricane/storm with significant flooding predicted to impact Charles County.

Important information for residents to obtain/pick up sandbags: 

• Bring proper identification as proof you are a county resident in order to receive sandbags
• No more than 10 sandbags per person per vehicle will be issued
• If you can bring your own shovel, that will be helpful

Safety Tips: 

• Be prepared to fill sandbags and load them into your vehicle
• Ensure that your vehicle has sufficient capacity to carry loaded sandbags
• Plan accordingly so that you have adequate time to address other preparations necessary

• Breeze Farm Recycling Center - 15950 Cobb Island Rd, Cobb Island, MD 20664  
• Pisgah Recycling Center - 6645 Masson Springs Rd, La Plata, MD 20646
• Piney Church Mulch Facility - 5370 Piney Church Rd, Waldorf, MD 20602
• Actual hours for distribution will be communicated through various official public messaging
