Public Hearing: Amendment to Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan

Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will conduct a Virtual Public Hearing on July 27, 2021 at 6 p.m. to consider a proposed amendment to the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan.
An Amendment is proposed to the 2011-2021 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan to incorporate a construction and demolition debris processing, recycling, and transferring facility. The proposed facility, located at 6530 Hughesville Industrial Park Road, Hughesville, MD 20637, is to be owned and operated by WB Waste Solutions, LLC.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the July 27, 2021 Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on July 27, 2021 to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on July 27, 2021 to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted July 9, 2021 starting at 8:00 a.m. through July 27, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/amendment-to-the-solid-waste-management-plan/ or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than July 27, 2021.
